Interstellar exploration - the greatest challenge and the most magnificent adventure conceivable. Even though we are limited by the speed of light, energy constraints and the laws of physics in general, interstellar exploration is still feasible if it is seen as a long-term, multi-generational project similar to the construction of the great cathedrals in Europe in the Middle Ages.
The Fourth Millennium Foundation was established to help spread this vision:
We are at a turning point in history. Planets are being discovered around other stars. Some could harbor life of their own, some could be suitable for seeding life and creating a second home for humanity and all of Earth's life forms. Earth's life - by its technologically capable part, humanity - has the choice to remain complacently where it is and eventually die where it was born or to explore the universe and live almost forever.
As you will discover on this website, interstellar exploration is a very interesting and diverse matter with aspects going from astrophysics and engineering to biology, economics and politics. Please convince yourself this is a worthy and fulfilling cause. When backed up by enough people, in time this dream will come true.
